Prolog Director attends first delivery for
Cancer Research UK's Race for Life
Prolog Transport and Logistics Director, Peter Ray, turned out at London's Battersea Park on May 2 to oversee the first delivery of support materials for Cancer Research UK's Race for Life 2007 series, supported by Tesco.
Race for Life is the largest women-only fundraising event series in the UK, and this year expects to raise over £60 million for Cancer Research UK's life saving work by bringing together 800,000 women at 280 events across mainland Britain and Northern Ireland this Summer.
Prolog Logistics has been contracted to pack and deliver the sponser-supplied 'goody-bags' handed to the runners as they cross the finishing line at all events.
Claire Rowley, from Cancer Research UK, was on hand to meet the Prolog vehicle at the first event at Battersea Park. Claire said: "Ensuring that we have the right number of goody bags at every event and on time is essential to help provide a great experience for the women who take part. With the great support provided by Prolog, we can ensure that all Race for Life participants have a wonderful time and raise money to help fund the crucial work of Cancer Research UK."
Peter Ray helped CRUK's enthusiastic team of organisers and volunteers to stack the 12-pallet first delivery, including the bottled water and all-important medals for participants.
He commented: "Prolog is proud to be supporting Cancer Research in such an important and high-profile series of events."
"During Race for Life 2007 Prolog will be delivering to practically every corner of the UK at all hours and under widely varying conditions," he added. "They will not always be sure what's in store, but Prolog drivers thrive on the unexpected and deliveries like this brings out the best in them."
Since Race for Life began in 1994, more than two million women have taken part, raising over £140 million to help beat cancer.
