"Prolog's warehouse offers a truly bespoke environment for this kind of work"

Home Office

Helping the Home Office to "make the difference"

Individuals and organisations wanting copies of government publications about issues as diverse as police recruitment, crime reduction, Internet safety, drugs strategy, domestic violence and many others are able to order by e-mail, white mail, fax or by telephone.

What they may not be aware of when they place those orders is that they are dealing not with the Home Office, but with Prolog, its outsourced fulfilment provider.

Over the last ten years or so, Prolog has become a major force in the bulk storage and distribution of printed material on behalf of Britain's government departments and their agencies, including HSE, the DfES, The Electoral Commission and QCA to name but a few.

Prolog's contract with the Home Office involves the on-going storage of around 3000 pallets of stock at our modern distribution centre near Nottingham.

Our 'Phase-2' warehouse is not just an efficient storage and distribution hub for bulk literature, but a truly bespoke environment for this kind of work, thanks to Prolog's policy of grouping kindred accounts under the same roof and under the watchful eyes of 'sector-specialist' management and warehousing teams.

It is a policy that works well and greatly enhances the ability of Prolog to 'think for its clients' and offer them highly pro-active added-value services, often well beyond the terms of the contract.

And the emphasis of this account, like much of the other government work Prolog does, is on 'services' in the plural. Integrated with our warehouses are Prolog Connect's contact centres which, on the Sherwood Park site, currently take around 70 calls a day from Home Office customers, and maintain no less that five e-mail addresses within Prolog's E- gain umberella, including two lines specifically for the police.

Working hand in glove with their call centre colleagues, Prolog's Bureau Services staff process approximately 4000 orders for literature a month across the entire range of Home Office titles, sending material out quickly and efficiently to recipients who vary from students to senior police and crime prevention officers.

Prolog's Account Management team places huge importance on maintaining a good working relationship with its client, and this extends right through into our Mailing Services Division at Sherwood Park. Prolog undertakes both regular and hoc mailings for HO, and, at the time of writing, holds at least two databases for the RDS and Police Briefing magazines.

The Home Office's avowed aim is to build a safe, just and tolerant society for everyone. Just as our client is seeking to make a difference to people's lives, so Prolog seeks to make a difference to our clients' effectiveness in the way they reach and communicate with their audience and customers across the nation. We too can only achieve our goals through the quality of our people, and we are proud of our growing reputation for service and value and particularly within Britain's public sector.
